Checking in

One rotation and several weeks of lectures down, and I still haven't posted anything. Should really have expected as much from myself to be honest... However, this does mean that I now have plenty of stuff on my mind to share. For now, a few thoughts:

  1. Some doctors are utter twats. Others are extremely nice and helpful.
  2. Why does the whole class have to travel across town once a week to use the computer room in the other hospital, when there's an identical computer room where we are? Especially since the tutors are based here too.
  3. There's a surprising amount of free food in hospitals, if you know where to look. Sit near the back of the theatre during grand rounds; that way you get first dibs on the coffee, melon and pastries.
  4. How does it make any sense that we're apparently not going to be vaccinated against A(H1N1)?
  5. How come I still don't go to the gym every day, even though it's across the road?

The life is short, the art long

Hello, world!

I'm a medical student, about to start my third year studying medicine in Dublin. For years I've meant to start a blog to share/offload my experiences and thoughts, but I kept putting it on the long finger; the transition from the pre-clinical science years to clinics seems as good a point as any. Expect a more detailed introduction soon. Let's see how long I can keep this up without getting bored...
